What does google page rank give to your blog?

The next google page rank update is round the corner. No no no…easy, now don’t bug me on IM asking when is the date, I honestly have no clue. The grapewines say it’s around in April mid/last, so let’s watch and see.
Everytime there’s a page rank update the most excited would be the bloggers who started their blogging venture is less than three months earlier. This is the time when there are more searches for the term “when is the next google page rank update” and the related long tail ones on Google. Rest of the best, the boring daily bloggers wouldn’t be as excited as the young blogger because he’d have gone through the  update – downgrade – upgrade process by now and (probably penalized) lost his affinity to the green bar.
Now, the enthusiasm of the young bloggers is something that’s universal. Everyone is worried about whether their blog will get the green bar filled or not.
My question is – How much value does Google page give to your blog?
So you are a young blogger with a blog less than an year old. You have around 100 posts and gathered a few links from around the blogosphere. Hell, you’ve even submitted to directories only to know that they are a waste of time. I’m sure some of you might have even bought links from others in the blogsphere for as chaep as 5-10 bucks. So what value is Google Page Rank going to give you once you are calibrated?
You might sell some links? But Google will penalize you.
You might show off the page rank to potential advertisers? But they are more interested in your subscriber count.
You might show off your PR to a fellow blogger? They might have a better one.
Essentially, Google Page rank does not give you any value what so ever other than a fancy green bar.
It is just a publicly available visualization of Google’s own standards of rating sites to gather information.

And yes, please do not mistake that if you get a higher Google Page Rank you’d get better search engine rankings. That’s a mistake.

Google Page Rank has got no effect whatsoever on the search engine rankings position of a site. It is just an internal metric of Google to grade sites to make it convenient for them for data collection (or something similar).
So this time around, rather than fretting over the green bar, try gathering one way incoming links to your blog and developing unique content rich pages. Those two things can earn you lot of respect from Google, this page rank update.

Fraud v/s genuine SEO – make them out from their claims

I had to write about this. There are lot of fraud SEO‘s around. No doubt. Many of them somehow downloads a pirated copy of some popular SEO book ( there are many around ) and becomes SEO’s overnight (That’s not my idea – I read it on the DP forums ). Now they go on to set up a one – page website with a Google, MSN and Yahoo logo with a dart picture (un-licensed) saying something like “The world’s best SEO – Rank No.1 guaranteed “. Have you seen one?
It’s easy to make them out as frauds from their overly detailed testimonials and super-duper client list (Some even have Yahoo on the client list – what the..?). It’s essential for genuine SE optimizers to make aware the public on these frauds and hence this post.
This post is inspired from this article by Philip Lenssen. I thought this post might enlighten you to make out between fraud SEO’s and genuine one’s from their claims. Though Philip has mentioned many white-hat terms here, I think it’s OK to assume that many of them are used by fraud SEO’s than genuine ones.
He says
In the SEO industry agencies, experts and even bloggers have adopted a special mode of speech not to say slang that might be misunderstood by outsiders like clients, website visitors or the general public. To help you understand what search engine optimization experts really mean I devised this real glossary of SEO speak:

Steps Migrating from Blogger to WordPress

Back to some basics today. For some time now, I haven’t written about blogger(blogspot.com) even though I get emails once in a while asking about things like migrating from blogger to wordpress and the like. In fact, there’s been repetitive questions on Blogger to WordPress migration. So here are some of my thoughts, ideas for Blogger to WordPress migration you’ll find useful.

Ensuring a smooth migration from Blogger to WordPress

Before the migration

1. Getting the domain name.

I assume you’ve bought a great domain name.
Make sure that,
a. If you have a site that needs promotion ( above the natural organic search )
- Get a “brandable” domain name with good recall value.
b. If you have a site that has a natural pulling through organic search through your content,
- Then get a domain name that matches with your niche.

Ensuring a smooth migration.

2. Don’t delete the old blog, build the new one first.

I assume that you already have some traction with the traffic on the blogger account. Now the most important step to take before moving to the WP account is to make sure that you don’t lose your traffic.
For this, before deleting your blogger.com account, set up your WordPress blog on the new domain, and import all the blogger post using the import function. Find more information about importing here.

3. Get the new blog indexed on Google.

Now, make sure that you get the new blog indexed through a valid external link. During this time, I’d advice that you block all the google indexing to the inner pages/articles either using noindex tags or password protecting those pages. And only let the main domain name be indexed. The reason is that if you let the content get indexed now, it may result in duplicate content.

4. Issue a 301 redirect on the old domain.

Once the new blog gets indexed on Google, install a 301 redirect on all the pages/main domain of your old blogger.com account. This will make sure that all the old posts will be “deleted” from Google and replaced with the new blog. I’d also advice that you create URL structures on the new domain to match the old one and therefore make redirecting easier and less complicated. Also make sure that you’ve lifted the “noindexed” tags and “unblocked” all the inner pages/articles from the new domain. More information on 301 redirects from blogger can be found here, here , here and here.

5. Watch the traffic closely for a few days, see for fluctuations.

For every migration, things take their own time, although if we have done things right, we should be able to expect a quick change over. So watch the traffic to the new blog carefully and see if you’re getting the same traffic as much as the old blog. If not, don’t worry, there might be some temporary glitches so hang on, you need to worry only if things don’t get right in a week or so.

6. If the traffic is okay, drop the old blog.

If you’re getting half as traffic as the old blog, things are fine. So its safe to drop the old blog. But wait, hang on for some more days until you get the traffic steady.

7. Check the SERPS.

If the SERPs still show the old blog URL, please contact Google Webmasters and request a manual deletion. But if you’ve done things right, it should already have replaced by the new one.
That pretty much summarizes it, but make sure you don’t skip any step in between or things can screw up. One grave mistake I’ve found many people repeating is that they delete the old blog even before the new one is indexed on Google. They import the contents on to the new blog and just delete the old blog thinking that things will get automatically fixed from there. Actually in all chances, there may not be screw ups, but you might as well see a major dip in traffic so much as to zero while the new site is being indexed. So, do it slow and steady, things will be alright.

How to build a sitemap for blogger and large websites?

Today, let’s see more about sitemaps. Every webmaster must have a sitemap ready for his site and submit it to google in order to get all the pages listed on Google.Sitemaps are of two types, as you know the HTML sitemap you use to navigate a site and second the sitemap used to help crawlers crawl the pages more effectively.

Why are they necessary?
Sitemaps are not necessary.(Yep i said that) Even if you don’t have sitemaps the crawlers will crawl your pages and
find the content. But, it is like letting them crawl in a dark room. What if you had a well lit room with all navigation and helpers around which will take them to each room? It will be more effective right? Sitemaps serve this purpose.
It has the site structure ready giving indication to the crawlers as to which are the folders/files that are important, which are not, which are the folders/files that are to be visited frequently, and which are the ones to be visited only once. This helps the crawlers to undersand your site more effectively.

Now, how to build a sitemap for blogger?
It’s very simple in Blogger. It only requires you to go to the Google Webmaster Central and add your site feed and the sitemap is automatically created. Make sure that you submit your full feed and not the partial one.

Which is the best sitemap generator program around?
There are lot of free online and downloadable sitemap generators.
Here’s a simplified listing of what is best.

1- Python Scipt – This is the most difficult one to install. But if you are familiar with python, then this is the best one around. It’s automated and requires no additional support.I don’t recommend it for a beginner.Requires technical knowledge.

2 – Online sitemaps- This is best for small websites. It’s easy, simple and online.Just go to this site and submit your url.Fill in some basic details like time and priority settings for the files and click go!The whole sitemap will be generated online. You will get both ROR file and the Google sitemap XML file.If you are interested only in Google, use the XML sitemap. The format is according to Google sitemap protocol and is faultless.
Best choice for beginners and small websites of less than 500 pages.

3 - Gsite Crawler - This is a downloadable application. If your website is a bit large and you have time to tweak some settings and is serious about sitemap, then i would recommend this guy for you.
It requires you to give the website url, then select the types of files to be scanned from it, priority settings are automatically detected, and you can create bot Google sitemap and Yahoo url.
It has report generation as well that will give you an idea of how many urls were crawled and broken links etc. This is very useful while handling large sites.

How to make sitemap for large sites?
If you have really large websites for instance a one million page one, then it’s really going to be tough creating a sitemap. Practically this is possible with the Python script but if you are not okay with the technical stuff then you got to depend on sitemap generator programs.(If you don’t have a really large website the follwing piece of information may not help you.)

Step 1 - Download a free sitemap generator program like Gsite crawler.

Step 2 - Use it to crawl each folder of your website as separate projects.Make sure that you create a new database each time a new project is opened.

Step 3 - Now you have separate sitemaps for each folder.
Ex:- yourdomain.com/folder1 has a sitemap called folder1.xml and yourdomain.com/folder2 has a sitemap called folder2.xml

Step 4 - Download this simple index generator program.

Step 5 - Copy paste all the folders (containing the sitemaps) from thh projects folder of Gsite crawler(C:program files…) and put it into one single folder.

Step 6 – Run the index generator program against this parent folder.

Step 7 – Now a sitemap index would be created with links to all the child sitemaps but one problem, since in Gsite Crawlers projects folder(C:Program Files) each crawled folder will be named with underscore replacing the forward slash.
Ex:- yourdomain.com/folder will be named as yourdomain.com_folder
Therefore the sitemap index produced will have the links too this way.

Step 8 - Use notepad/wordpad to open the sitemap index file. Find and replace all the underscores with forward slash.

Step 9 - Upload the child sitemaps in the respective folders online.
Ex: – yourdomain.com/folder1..folder2 etc.

Step 10 – Upload the sitemap index file to the root folder and submit it to google.
Bingo! There you go you have now created a sitemap index and child sitemaps for a large website

Google Promises Android 4.0 For The Nexus S, “Theoretically” For Gingerbread Devices, Too

android-ice-cream-sandwich
With a few hours of Ice Cream Sandwich familiarity under our belts, the looming question in everyone’s mind is: when will the Android 4.0 update roll out to existing devices? Well, nobody knows. But after talking with a few authorities on the subject, we at least have a few hints.
Google’s Android Product Manager Gabe Cohen and Android User Experience Director Matias Duarte have promised Ice Cream Sandwich for the Nexus S, and hinted that all other Android 2.3 Gingerbread devices should “theoretically” get ICS as well. Here’s the official quote: “Currently in the process for releasing Ice Cream Sandwich for Nexus S. Theoretically should work for any 2.3 device.” According to Engadget, there still isn’t a clear plan for the Nexus One.
HTC has decided to rest heavily on the fence for this one, saying that they do hope to release ICS to the masses, but will have to figure a way to lay their Sense UI on top of it first. Just like Cohen and Duarte, HTC refuses to give a timeline.
In my quest to dig up some answers, I decided to reach out to the big four carriers as well. T-Mobile never responded, while the rest had either no comment to give, or no information regarding the ICS update schedule.
Many owners of Froyo devices purchased early this year are still waiting on Gingerbread, so hopefully the carriers and phone makers have a more efficient plan for Android 4.0.
But I wouldn’t bet on it.

New Study Proves Mobile Phones 'Don't Cause Cancer'

Bangalore: Cell phones don't cause cancer, says a new study, published in the 'British Medical Journal', thus putting an end to the debate over whether mobile devices harm people.

In their study, described as the largest on the subject to date, Danish researchers have found there's no link between the long-term use of a mobile phone and getting brain cancer.
The researchers at Institute of Cancer Epidemiology in Copenhagen looked at 358,000 people over a period of 18 years and found cancer rates were almost the same in both long-term mobile phone users and people who do not use the handsets. They concluded that using cell phones does not lead to tumours of the brain or nervous system or, indeed, any cancer.

In fact, in the study covering the years 1990 to 2007, the researchers looked at users and non-users of cell phones.

Overall, 10,729 people suffered tumours of the central nervous system. When they looked at those with the longest mobile use - 13 years or more - they found cancer rates were almost the same as among non-users.

The researchers observed no overall increased risk for tumours of the central nervous system, or for all cancers combined, in mobile phone users.

They said: "The extended follow-up allowed us to investigate effects in people who had used mobile phones for 10 years or more and this long-term use was not associated with higher cancer risks."

But, they added: "A small to moderate increase in risk for sub-groups of heavy users or after even longer induction periods than 10-15 years cannot be ruled out."

Though some experts have welcomed the findings, a few others are not convinced.

Hazel Nunn, head of evidence and health information at Cancer Research UK, was quoted by the 'Daily Express' as saying, "These results are the strongest evidence yet that using a mobile does not seem to increase the risk of cancers of brain or central nervous system in adults."

But, Denis Henshaw, emeritus professor of human radiation effects at Bristol University, said: "This seriously flawed study misleads the public and decision makers about the safety of mobile phone use. I consider their claims worthless."

Earlier this year, the World Health Organisation warned that mobile phones may cause cancer and urged owners to limit their use.

Facebook Building Shadow Profiles of Non-Users

LONDON: Facebook is gradually building "shadow profiles" of non-users of the social networking site, a privacy watchdog has claimed.

Ireland's Data Protection Commissioner (IDPC) claims that users are encouraged to give out non-user's personal details, like names, phone numbers and email addresses, which Facebook uses to create "shadow profiles" of those people.

Ciara O'Sullivan, a IDPC spokeswoman told 'FoxNews.com' that its audit of Facebook Ireland's privacy policies was part of a "statutory investigation" that the office anticipates will lead to immediate changes.

"The Office of the Data Protection Commissioner willbe commencing a comprehensive audit of Facebook Ireland before the end of the month," O'Sullivan said.

However, Facebook, with 800 million users, has refuted allegations that it is tracking information of non-account holders too. "The allegations are false," Facebook's spokesman Andrew Noyes was quoted as saying.

He added: "We enable you to send emails to your friends, inviting them to join Facebook. We keep the invitee's email address and name to let you know when they join the service.

"This practice is common among almost all services that involve invitations, from document sharing to event planning. The assertion that Facebook is doing some sort of nefarious profiling is simply wrong."

The social network also said information from users it not used to target advertisements and information is not sold to other people.

Latest Features on Facebook Irritates Users

Bangalore: Facebook is struggling hard to keep its users stick to it. But the tough competition by Google+ and Twitter is forcing the leading social networking site to surprise its users almost every day with more new features and makeovers. Though Facebook wants its members to enjoy the digital experience, the users seem to be very confused with new features which are resulting into a lot of anger among them. This latest addition features sending friend request on its own, which users are not ready to deal with. The users are not happy because this application sends request to even those people whom they wish to ignore. Users feel that this new innovation done by Facebook is intruding their privacy and their personal choices and they want this feature to be discarded right away.A technology blogger, Nik Cubrilovic affirmed that this might be a way to up their revenue. He said, "Verified email addresses sell for 20c to one dollar each so if they are able to extract 100,000 verified email addresses from Facebook that is probably worth upwards of 20,000 dollars to spammers". People can never tolerate someone else making picks for them on their behalf. Users want Facebook to go for makeovers only if it can benefit their needs or they should not try at all. They feel that this is a breach of personal choices and should be stopped.

The other sites like Twitter and Google+ are trying to strengthen their position at the social networking scene, so there is want for Facebook to work according to the needs and preferences of people, other than making its own applications make choices for them. This is the only way in which it can keep up its position.

Indian IT Biggies TCS, Infosys, Wipro Can Withstand Demand Uncertainty

MUMBAI: Credit rating agency Standard and Poor's (S&P) said top three Indian IT companies Tata Consultancy Services, Infosys and Wipro -- are likely to maintain their investment grade ratings even if demand weakens.

"The largest Indian IT companies have strong margins, are cost-competitive, and have proven delivery models. These attributes will help them to weather uncertain and volatile demand," S&P's Credit Analyst Abhishek Dangra said about the three firms.

S&P has given TCS and Infosys BBB+ and Stable rating, while Wipro holds BBB and positive credit rating.
S&P report said that the three leading IT companies will be able to grow at a faster pace than the global industry, at least over the next few years.

It expects these companies to maintain industry-leading EBITDA (indication of cash flow) margins and grow in double digits in the next 12 months.

"Bigger challenges for the Indian IT companies will occur in the long-term. We expect the cost advantages of these companies to diminish as foreign competitors increase their already-large employee bases in India," a S&P statement said.

The agency said business and reputation risk is rising due to increasing protectionism and it expects the three Indian IT companies to adapt to the challenges, as they have in the past.

On dependency of IT companies on the slowing economies of the US and Europe, it said sovereign budget cuts across these markets could hurt business sentiment and lower private-sector IT spending.

The agency, however, added that deal cancellations would not have as much impact as in 2008-2009, and the time it takes to close deals has lengthened.

Dangra said high unemployment rates, slowing growth and political activism in many countries are generating opposition to outsourcing.

"Still, we expect focus on cutting costs in a slowing global economy to support demand for outsourcing to India. Such a practice results in significant cost savings," he added.

Steve Jobs Biography a Hit in China

BEIJING: Late Apple CEO Steve Jobs authorised biography seems to be a great hit in China as dozens of people were seen lined outside book stores even before they were opened and entire copies being almost sold off within an hour.

Eager fans queued up in front of local bookstores from 6 am today for the Chinese version of the authorised biography of Jobs.
'Steve Jobs', written by Walter Isaacson went on sale at 10:05 am across 30 selected bookstores in 21 cities on the Chinese mainland, including three in Shanghai.

At the Shanghai Book City on Fuzhou Road, 512 copies were sold there within an hour.

The Chinese copy is priced at 68 yuan ($10.68). Cheng Ji, the first in the line at the Shanghai Book City, bought five copies for her son in college and friends.

Denis Chen, a 24-year-old Apple enthusiast, arrived at 9 am and was surprised to see the long line.

"I already ordered one in the online bookstore for 51 yuan, but I wanted to see the premier. It is definitely rare to see such a long line of readers of different ages queuing up for a book. It shows how influential Jobs was and still is," he told Shanghai Daily.

Chen received his copy from amazon.cn after he got home. The book was pre-sold on online shops as early as August and has been on the best pre-seller list after Jobs died on October 5.

Amazon.cn reported a daily order of 10,000 copies on October 5.

Jobs has become household name in China as his Apple products made a big mark all over the country, with many local companies selling imitation version of Apple phone.

Fibre Optical Scheme for Panchayats Approved

New Delhi: The cabinet cleared a scheme for creating a National Optical Fibre Network (NOFN) for providing broadband connectivity to panchayats that is likely to boost rural employment.

The scheme will also facilitate electronic services including e-education, e-health and e-agriculture and reduce the migration of rural population to urban areas.
"The cost of this initial phase of the NOFN scheme is likely to be about 20,000 crore. A similar amount of investment is likely to be made by the private sector complementing the NOFN infrastructure while providing services to individual users," an official note said.

"The objective of the scheme is to extend the existing optical fibre network to the gram panchayat level," it added.

So far the optical fibre network was available up to the district level.

By facilitating implementation of these services, the scheme will also lead to inclusive growth besides providing high bandwidth connectivity for electronic delivery of services to citizens.

According to a study conducted by the World Bank, with every 10 percent increase in broadband penetration, there is an increase in the gross domestic product growth by 1.4 percent.

RIM Sets Up Facility in India to Help With Surveillance

Bangalore: Research In Motion has set up a facility in Mumbai to help the Indian government carry out lawful surveillance of its BlackBerry services, reports Reuters.

RIM gave India access to its consumer services, including its Messenger services, in January this year after authorities raised security concerns, but said it could not allow monitoring of its enterprise email.
RIM Sets Up Facility in India to Help With Surveillance

RIM partly assuaged India by setting up the small Mumbai facility earlier this year to handle surveillance requests from India.

India can submit the name of a suspect its investigators want to wiretap, and RIM will return decoded messages for that individual, as long as it is satisfied the request has legal authorization.

RIM was not available for comment outside regular Canadian business hours. The new facility will handle lawful intercept requests for consumer services including the BlackBerry Messenger chat service.

India saw the move as a positive step, but would prefer an arrangement where it has the ability to decode messages itself, so that it can conduct surveillance without disclosing the names of suspects to RIM.

India still has no method to intercept and decode BlackBerry enterprise email, which is used by corporate customers and features a higher level of encryption than consumer email and instant messaging.

Nokia Eyes 50 Percent Market Share in India by 2012

LONDON: Finnish mobile handset maker Nokia said it is targeting over 50 per cent market share in India on the back of innovative products, services and content within 2012.

The company is banking on its newly unveiled mid-end phones from the 'Asha' series priced between Rs 4,100 and Rs 8,000 and other smartphones, including the new two Lumia models with Windows Operating System tagged at about Rs 29,000 and Rs 19,000 respectively, to drive up sales in India.
"Our target share should always be more than half of the total market...I think we would be able to get there in 2012 by focusing on great innovative products, great delivery and experience at retail points, services and content integration," Nokia India Vice-President and Managing Director D Shivakumar told reporters here. When asked about the company's current market share in India he said: "I won't be able to say that but I can say that we are well on our way."

Nokia is eyeing a majority share across categories within the total mobile and smartphones segment.

According to industry journal 'Voice & Data', in the fiscal 2010-11, the Indian mobile handset market touched Rs 33,171 crore and Nokia's share was Rs 12,929 crore.

"India is not the right market for anybody to just do a value play in any one category. If you want to be meaningful, you have to be a full line player," he added.

Nokia has unveiled four new mid-end phones from the 'Asha' series priced between 60 Euro and 115 euro, along with two new Lumia smartphones with Windows Operating System tagged at 420 euro and 270 euro respectively.

"The Asha range will be a huge boon in a market like India, where the total Internet penetration is under seventy million and the total mobile population is over 800 million," he said.

To support the launch of Lumia phones in India, the company has plans to give demonstrations and let consumers experience the new phones at over 5,000 retail points.

Nokia and Microsoft are training about 12,000 people for this. On the day of the launch, all the employees of Nokia's corporate office in India will be selling phones at stores, Shivakumar said.

"It is the most important launch for us and the benchmark that we have set for ourselves is that it must be the most impactful consumer products launch in the country," he added.

For the Lumia Windows phones, the company is set to launch a new global marketing campaign, including in India. Nokia says its retail partners and operators have committed to invest three times more on he marketing and promotion of the new phones, compared to earlier launches.

Do You Know About Bluetooth Technology of Your Mobile?

History of Bluetooth
Bluetooth can be traced to the King of Denmark from 949 to 981. Harold Bluetooth was famous for his ability to help people communicate with one another more effectively. The characters on the Bluetooth logo come from characters in the runic alphabet. The reference to this particular king is somehow appropriate as Bluetooth technology also accomplishes the often-difficult task of keeping people connected and communicating effectively.

Each Bluetooth-enabled device can simultaneously communicate with up to seven other devices within a single personal area network, called a piconet. Each device can simultaneously belong to several piconets. Each device negotiates with each other via a defined device name so that each device can keep track of who it is communicating with. Bluetooth technology offers built-in security with 128-bit encryption and PIN code authentication. When Bluetooth products identify themselves, they use the PIN code the first time they connect, thereafter staying securely connected.

Uses of Bluetooth technology
Some of the popular applications of Bluetooth technology are in wireless networking between a mobile phone and a laptop/desktop, between a mobile phone and a hands-free headset, between PCs in a restricted space and between the input and output devices of a PC (e.g., mouse, keyboard, printer). Bluetooth technology can also be used to transfer files, images and MP3 files between mobile phones or between MP3 players/digital cameras and computers.

Limitations of Bluetooth Technology
Short communication range (up to 100 m) is the greatest limitation of Bluetooth technology. Also, the data transfer rates are much lower compared to other wireless communication technologies. Susceptibility to interference from other devices operating in the 2.4 MHz band, notwithstanding adaptive frequency hopping, is another limitation. The Bluetooth technology is still not fully developed, so there is plenty of room for improvement.

Latest phone from Sony Ericsson W995 - A walkman lover's phone

Sony Ericsson’s new Walkman series phone W995 complete all desired of  walkman phone lovers. It's a good-looking and easy-to-use music phone with excellent sound quality. This is a music phone that takes everything great about the Walkman range and makes it even better, thanks to the standard 3.5mm headphone jack at  the top.On the back is the 8.1 megapixel lens  LED flash and a small metal flip stand so you can set it somewhere handy to watch video
The Sony Ericsson W995 is a slider, so you'd expect it to be on the chunky side. That said, they've kept it reasonably slim by keeping the top part to a svelte 4mm, delivering the vital statistics of 97x49x15mm and 113g. So it's still a fair old handful, but not bad at all considering what's inside.
Display looks pleasing with its 2.6 inches. This is a feature Sony Ericsson has definitely improved on alongside of the previous models – all of them have smaller ones. Resolution, however, remains the same – QVGA and the screen supports 262k colors. No matter, image quality is really good. Thanks to the light sensitivity sensor, display is usable even in bright light, although colors get rather worn-out.
Similarly to the Sony Ericsson W705, the phone looks stylish, presentable and buttoned-down. Both its front side and battery cover are made of metal and sport nicely looking brushed pattern that is, however, hardly noticeable on the black handset we are reviewing. Still, the W995 also comes in silver and red varieties.
